Every autumn, Mrs. Chan busts out her mobile cart fitted with a giant gas-powered wok, hand-roasting chestnuts and sweet potatoes at the Mong Kok Flower Market. Year after year, the now 70-year-old Mrs. Chan has been carrying on this beloved winter local tradition, a tradition that is at risk of vanishing within this generation as itinerant hawker licenses are no longer transferable or issued by the government.
