This photography book compiles over 80 black-and-white and colour portraits by Almond Chu of fellow urbanites, including renowned film directors, artists, architects, writers, performers, singers, and designers who actively participated in Hong Kong’s cultural circles during the 1990s to 2000s. In his portraits, Chu aims to capture the timelessness of his figures, who have both nurtured and been nurtured by the energy of the cities they live in.
Portrait-sitters include cultural luminaries such as Wong Kar-Wai, Ann Hui, Johnnie To, Leung Ping-kwan, Alan Chan, Kacey Wong, Yue Minjun, Gu Wenda, David Diao, Muna Tseng, and Ang Lee.
