Legos have been around since I was a child in the 1980s. It is still as popular as ever today and parents feel almost obligated to buy them because they are one of the few toys remaining that require creativity, imagination and a hands-on, non-technological approach.
I took my children to see a Lego exhibit in Hong Kong. Security guarded the small exhibit which had so much velvet rope around each piece that you could not truly admire the construction.The velvet rope, of course, was to protect the structures from people touching them, but is the antithesis of what makes Legos popular in the first place - using your hands!
Fast forward a few months and across the globe to New York City. Right smack in the middle of Bryant Park (an outdoor park, open to the public and weather conditions) sits these massive (human size) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made out of Lego... and not a velvet rope in sight!
